Teaching Digital Citizenship – Edmodocon2012

EdmodoCon participants – Thank you to all for your amazingly kind comments. I am glad you enjoyed the Digital Citizenship presentation. As stated in the presentation, creating a digital citizenship course in EDMODO started as an idea at Starbucks and morphed into something so powerful and so important for our teachers and students.

Below you will see a copy of the presentation slides. As soon as EDMODOCON posts the recording I will make sure I post it here as well.

    Hi Carlos,
Thanks so much for your presentation this morning (Sydney time! ) on EdmodoCon 2012. It was so good to see that we are on the same page as educators across the globe in our concerns for teaching our students the skills of 21st century Digital Citizenship.
We have created a new course this year (our year runs February to December of course!) where we withdraw Year 8 for 75 minutes per fortnight (every 2 weeks in American English!) and cover all sorts of issues regarding these skills – and hopefully give them some skills to use in their other courses (as we call them – the Key Learning Areas). Our program developed as a response to issues of cyberbullying, sexting and facebook interference in the running of the school – the issues of this generation of learners! ;)
Please pass on my congratulations and thanks to your team as well – and thank you for your generous sharing of resources. Your graphics are also very impressive – great to know an artist with a whole other set of digital skills! ;)
    Thanks again, all the best,
    Deb Hogg

Thank you for the kind words. I will make sure that I pass this on to my team. We put lots of work into this but we are so happy so many people are benefitting from our hard work. It truly is such an important topic.

    Thanks again.
